ATN Provides Support - Education - Advocacy

Parenting a child who has been traumatized or has Attachment Disorder can be overwhelming and isolating.  Family and friends often don't understand or know how to support a family in crisis. It's hard to find answers, resources, hope.

Did you know...

  •  The CDC reports 1 out of every 50 infants under 12 months have been traumatized?

  • The younger a child is when traumatized the more lasting the impact of the trauma can be on brain development and function?

  • Research shows that children who experience abuse and neglect (especially at early ages), who stay in foster care for extended time, or who move multiple times while in care are at particular risk of mental health problems?

  • Studies report that 12-40% of adoptive children exhibit severe emotional or behavioral problems.

  • "Inability to attach" is the most cited reason that adoptive placements disrupt or dissolve.
